Though born on the East Coast, Superstar Comic Artist Tim Sale grew up in Seattle. He also began his post-secondary education there, studying art at UW for a couple of years--before deciding to head out for New York City's John Buscema Workshop and The School of Visual Arts.
In 1983, he began his comics career by inking the Warp Graphics title, Myth Adventures. This was followed by a pencil/ink/lettering Thieve's World in 1985. Attending the San Diego Comic-Con soon thereafter, he met Matt Wagner, Diana Schutz and Barbara Randall, who subsequently introduced him to Jeph Loeb--accidentally starting one of the more influential occasional partnerships in comics history.
Together with Loeb, Sale has produced many popular mini-series for Marvel and DC, including Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory, Superman for All Seasons, Catwoman: When in Rome, Spider-Man: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow, Hulk: Grey, and in July 2008 their latest offering begins: Captain America: White.
The partnership with Loeb has continued not just across publishers, but into other media as well. In addition to his ongoing work in comics, Sale is also artistic consultant on the Jeph Loeb-produced Heroes, an American television program about ordinary people who find themselves gifted with superheroic abilities.
In fact, it is with Heroes that his artwork has seen its greatest public exposure. He is the artist behind character Isaac Mendez' prognostic paintings and 9th Wonders comic book.
